42 years ago, fans of the NES were expected to play the Super Mario Bros game without any tutorial or digital instructions. Nintendo is finally remedying that with a helpful tutorial level released on the eShop. Newcomers and younger players will finally get some assistance playing one of Nintendo’s most classic games.
For $10, the single level of gameplay will utilize the 40 year old platform engine. Written prompts and AI assisted controls will walk gamers through the tasks of jumping, running, and fighting. The tutorial is modeled after the difficult level 1-1, but safety precautions will help gamers stay alive. All the pits will be filled in, the Goombas will not cause damage, and Mario will start off with the fire flower. The level is also shortened to stop gamers from reeling under the harsh checkpoint system.
Nintendo is excited about this release, stating that they will be selling a series of tutorial levels for games like Ice Climbers, Icarus, and Punch-Out.
“After fans pay for the tutorial to use the controller, we expect them to head right over to the other tutorials,” A Nintendo developer stated.
