"The problems are systemic" says activist as she furiously types the word into dictionary.com

Marla Jenkins was caught off guard when the local paper asked her for a deeper understanding of racism. She admits, after her interview, that she shouldn't have used the terminology.

"It's systemic," Marla blurted out to the press, instantly cursing herself for choosing that word.

"Interesting," the reporter, Dan Stephen, remarked, "Which system are you referring to?"

Marla's eyes lit up in surprise, twisting her face, "So many systems. Just name a few, and I will confirm."

The reporter went on to ask Marla, an avid participant in any rally the community holds, what people can do to address the problem of systemic racism.

Marla bites her tongue, "Oh gosh...there's actually a lot...you can do. I mean, I could stand here all day and name a bunch of things, but the problems need to be managed sooner rather than later... we can come together...I mean it's about unity... justice in the markets. Ya know, it's not for us white people to understand."

Dan Stephens thanked Marla for her time and moved on, while Marla typed #loveislove in a Blue Sky post repeatedly as her penance.
